Before you start

Open AI Builder and choose the account
In the left menu, click AI Builder and choose your account in the first step.

Choose "Someone messages us"
Under "What starts it", click "Someone messages us". There's no post to choose and no public reply, because the person starts the conversation.

Set a keyword, or leave it blank
With a keyword, only messages containing that word get your reply. With the keyword left blank, every new person who writes to you gets it, including people you may already be chatting with. If you answer DMs yourself, use a keyword.

Write the DM
Write the message they get right away. Add a couple of alternate wordings if you like.

Review and activate
Read the summary and click Activate. It appears under Automations as "Message contains …" or "Anyone messages you".

Share your message link
Anyone who opens a chat with your account triggers it. Put your account's message link in your bio, an email or a QR code. For Facebook the link looks like m.me/YourPageName, and for Instagram ig.me/m/yourusername. Open it yourself first to check it opens your chat. Test it by messaging your account from a different account than the one you're testing.
Each person gets at most one automated reply from the same automation every 24 hours.
You can message someone for 24 hours after they write to you. That's a Meta rule for every app.
