How to cut pauses and dead space from a talking video automatically

Upload a video and let FlowAI find the pauses and repeats, then review the cuts by editing the transcript. Step by step with FlowAI's Video Studio.

About 3 minutes

Steps

  1. 1

    Open AI Video Studio

In the left menu, click AI Video Studio. Choose what kind of video it is, then pick your video file.

  2. 2

    Start processing

Click Start processing. FlowAI writes the transcript, which usually takes under a minute.

  3. 3

    Let the clean-up run

When the transcript is ready, FlowAI finds the pauses, filler words (um, uh) and repeated words and cuts them for you. A banner says how many cuts it made and how much time it removed.

  4. 4

    Review the cuts

Click Review cuts to see each one. Click Restore next to any you want back, or Undo all to put everything back. Click Done when you're happy.

  5. 5

    Edit by transcript

Click a word to jump to it in the video. Drag across words and press Delete to cut them. Crossed-out words are cut. Select them and click Restore selected to bring them back.

  6. 6

    Check the new length

The Edited length bar above the video shows how long the video is now, and how much was removed. The player's clock counts the edited video too.

Tips and if something goes wrong

  • Nothing is final until you approve it. Every cut can be restored.
  • Repeated words missing from the transcript? Click Re-transcribe word for word. Your cuts stay.
  • Click Find dead space any time to scan again.
  • Work through the steps at the top (Clean up, Details, Style, Export). Click any step to jump to it.
