How to auto-reply to Instagram story replies

Send an automatic DM when someone replies to your Instagram story, either to every reply or only when it contains your keyword. Step by step with FlowAI.

Before you start

  • An Instagram Business or Creator account connected to FlowAI. Story replies only exist on Instagram.

Steps

    Open AI Builder and choose your Instagram account

    In AI Builder, choose your Instagram account in the first step.

    Choose "Someone replies to your story"

    Under "What starts it", pick "Someone replies to your story". There are no posts to choose and no public reply, because the person starts the conversation in a message.

  3. 3

    Set a keyword, or leave it blank

    Type a word to answer only replies that contain it. Leave it blank to answer every reply to your stories.

  4. 4

    Write the DM

    Write the message people get right away. Add other wordings if you like, and FlowAI rotates between them.

  5. 5

    Review and activate

    Read the summary and click Activate. It appears under Automations as "Any reply" or with your keyword.

Tips and if something goes wrong

  • You can message someone for 24 hours after they reply to your story.
  • Each person gets one automated reply per automation per day.
  • Requiring a follow, or collecting an email or phone number, works here too. Set them in the Extras step.
